David L. Stanley holds a B.Sc. in zoology, an M.A. in teaching, and is an educator, author, voice-over actor, and speaker. David’s first book (2016) is Melanoma, It Started with a Freckle. His second (2019) is From Jim Crow to CEOthe Willie Artis Story.

His free-lance work has appeared in nine national magazines. He is a winner of the Giordana/Peloton Magazine writing award for his essay on the Paris-Roubaix Cycling Classic. He cohosts The Feed Zone, a podcast focused on pro cycling.

With his father’s death in 2019, Stanley began to write poetry in earnest, mainly the Shakespearean sonnet. His work has appeared in Aproprose JournalArt of FatherhoodDiVerses, Flyover Country, The Good Men Project, High Summer, Porchlight PostsRaven’s Perch, SamFiftyFour,Soundings, StanchionStand, and The State News. A graduate of MSU, U-Michigan Teacher Program, and Marygrove College, Stanley was the  TEDx poet-in-residence at Bloomington, IN, March, 2023. His sonnets on Black Lives Matter movement are archived and displayed at the University of Michigan-Flint Library. “He’s bringing sonnets back. ™”
