I spent the day weighing which sweater to wear:
the Fair Isle pullover a distant cousin made
the year she learned to knit in the round 
or the cashmere V-neck with a moth hole 
a timeless versatile basic
pulled from a pile at the thrift store
I considered one and then the other
and tried them on for look and feel and mood
wondering why such an inconsequential decision 
was suddenly so important
