Andy Porter is a Chester-based poet. He has been writing poems since 2020 after working for over 30 years as an advertising scriptwriter, copywriter and director. In 2012 he produced and co-directed the short film “Sea Wall” written by Simon Stephens and starring Andrew Scott which attracted a big following and received global media attention when it was released on YouTube during the Pandemic.

Andy’s debut poetry collection, “Neighbour’s Got a New Hot Tub” was launched in July 2025 by independent Irish publisher, Luain Press. The following month Andy appeared with Rising Tide Events at Electric Picnic Festival.

He is returning to Electric Picnic in 2026. He enjoys bringing poetry into schools and performs and MCs regularly at Spoken Word nights, launching Vox Box Chester in association with three poet friends earlier this year, . Andy’s work has featured on several podcasts and his poem “You Can’t Take it with You” is in The Poetry’s Dead’s second anthology (published January 2026).

His second full collection, Sourdough in Stilettos, was published in July 2026. Andy lives with his wife Kathy in the village of Great Barrow (aka “Barrowdise”), where he is surrounded by lunatics, most of whom are his friends.
