Oma Eze – A New World
*Post cataclysm*
Nothing was the same as it was, not the trees, not the earth and not definitely not the air.
The air. There was something different about the air,it was nothing I have ever experienced so I don’t know how to describe it.
*Pre Cataclysm*
Before all things went ablaze it was already really volatile. Nation against nation, family against family everyone was fighting for what they thought was right which in this case was their opinion.
And then all of a sudden: it all went boom!
You could feel the vibrations through earth, no one knew where it came from, it was nothing we had heard before, it was different from the bombs, different from any sound you’ve ever heard, it was so loud, shrill, deafening and really terrifying. I could smell death, and it smelt burnt.
Wails and tears filled the air, bodies were beginning to pile up, how I was still alive I didn’t know, I could barely see not that I could, even if I tried with the sound came dust clouds everything was amok.
I had to trust my own instinct to find safety,I soon realized that I was worried about the wrong things.
It was bright, it was too bright, it was warm but yet it burned and that’s when I realized everything was burning but there was no fire.
At this point I was dazed and confused, my body failed me, I couldn’t move nor could I breathe. I was ready to die. I wanted to die. I begged the god I believed in to take my life but it seems even he was a victim of what was happening, for he never answered. Was this the end time prophesied? Was this hell ? Why wasn’t I dying? And by impulse I lay still hoping it’ll pass away, hoping this was a really bad dream.
As I lay awaiting my fate, my weak eyes caught the silhouette of a figure hovering over me, but I couldn’t tell if it was a man or woman. I didn’t know what it was but its presence felt warm, it felt healing. I could feel myself rejuvenating, maybe my god didn’t abandon me after all , maybe I was going to heaven. That can’t be right, I can’t go to heaven, I wasn’t righteous enough to make it there.
And then I saw it clearly, it was very out worldly like nothing I’ve ever seen but one thing I knew for sure was that they were definitely not human. I didn’t know features could cause such a juxtaposition. So fierce yet so kind, they looked like they burned but yet were warm to touch, so beautiful. No. Beauty was an understatement of what they looked like. Their faces struck terror in my heart. I can’t truly describe them but I knew I couldn’t look them in the eyes.
*Post Cataclysm*
And then I heard them speak, it was loud, it was firm, it was unusual but surprisingly assuring.
“To those who stand and to those who breathe. Welcome to a new order. Welcome to a new age. You must be wondering what is happening, you must wonder how come you are all gathered here, if you look around you, you will see that nothing is the same. For so long your world has been in penury and strife, filled with so many vices that kill you but all that has changed there won’t be war anymore, you won’t die again, no more sickness or poverty. You are the few chosen ones given the opportunity to enjoy a new creation— a new age. By the destruction of your world, we have rid it of all the cancer that kills it.You have for so long lived a life with no meaning— without direction or hope. Fear no more, for salvation is upon you; No more shall you struggle nor want. You are the new order, the first of your kind and will live by new rules.”
*Eons Post Cataclysm*
We all adapted.
Life was better, life was easier
And the best part is , we were all happy.
The notion of evil had slowly died out, all were free and all were true to each other. The dead saying of the need for good and evil for there to be balance was proven wrong. You wouldn’t understand if you still lived in the old world but one day I know you’ll experience these blessings too.
